Fiction Genres
Combines text and illustrations to tell a story. ○ Often geared toward younger readers, focusing on simple narratives or concepts.
Features magical or supernatural elements, imaginary worlds, or fantastical creatures. ○ Examples: Harry Potter series, The Chronicles of Narnia
Explores futuristic, technological, or extraterrestrial themes. ○ Examples: A Wrinkle in Time.
Set in a historical period, often we often weaving fictional characters with real historical
events or figures.
○ Examples: Number the Stars, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
Nonfiction Genres
Presents facts and information about various topics like science, history, and nature. ○ Examples: The Magic School Bus series, National Geographic Kids..
○ Tells the life story of a person (biography) or is written by the person themselves (autobiography). ○ Examples: Who Was? series, I Am Malala (Young Reader’s Edition)
A narrative focusing on a specific time or theme in the author's life.
